Crawford County Release Meaning
A release is the end of one specific booking or custody episode. In the Crawford County Jail record, the key fact is a populated Release Date with an exact time. It proves that booking ended. It does not prove acquittal, dismissal, or freedom from every other agency. A person may leave on bond, after time served, under a court order, or through a transfer to another custodian. The record must be read in that narrow sense.
Different systems use different terms. KASPER, the Kansas Adult Supervised Population Electronic Repository, may show parole, postrelease supervision, or discharge. Parole and postrelease supervision mean the person is outside prison while KDOC authority continues. Discharge means the KDOC sentence has ended. VINE reports a county-jail custody change. The federal Bureau of Prisons may report “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody,” which means only that BOP no longer holds the person.
Crawford County Release Types
The correct next step depends on how custody ended. Crawford County New World shows bond data, charges, and a release time, but it does not label the release reason. A bond amount alone does not establish that a person bonded out. Likewise, the end of a county booking can mark a transfer rather than a return home.
| Event | Best confirmation | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| County booking ended | New World Release Date and time | Reason and destination are not shown |
| Bond or pretrial release | Jail timestamp plus bond or court entry | Does not mean the charge was dismissed |
| Time served or sentence completion | Sentence or discharge order plus jail record | Other cases or holds may remain |
| KDOC transfer | County exit plus matching KASPER movement | Not a community release |
| Parole or postrelease | KASPER status and parole office | The sentence is not yet discharged |
| Federal release | BOP locator and federal docket | Another jurisdiction may still hold the person |
A court order and a physical exit can also occur at different times. The order gives legal authority. The jail timestamp records the operational end of the booking. Keep both when exact sequence matters.
Crawford County Release Record Fields
The official Crawford County New World inquiry retains booking history after a person leaves. Results can show a photograph, name, age, sex, race, booking number, booking date, housing facility, and an In Custody indication. Opening the correct booking adds the exact release date and time along with charge and bond detail.
The released booking example shows how the local detail screen places a populated release timestamp beside historical booking information.
The image supports a field-based check. It should not be used to draw conclusions about the pictured person or the legal result of a case.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Subject and booking numbers | Identifiers used to select and request the correct booking |
| Booking date | When the selected local custody episode began |
| Release Date and time | When that booking ended |
| In Custody | Whether the interface marks the person as currently jailed |
| Prisoner type and facility | How the booking was classified and where it was housed |
| Bond and charges | Recorded bond terms and allegations, not the final case result |
| Arresting agency and photos | Booking context that helps distinguish records |
Historical records may contain several bookings and photographs. Match the release timestamp to the selected booking, not merely to the newest photo on a subject page. Crawford County does not publish a formal online retention period, so visible history is not a promise that every past record will remain online.
Request Crawford County Release Records
When screens conflict or a formal record is needed, request an existing jail record from the proper custodian. Crawford County's open-records page provides a downloadable form, online request route, and KORA officer information. A jail request should be directed to the Sheriff's Office or identified records custodian rather than asking a court clerk to certify sheriff data.
The county page is the source for the current form and request route. Its general fee language does not establish a fixed sheriff release-record price.
- Identify the person and booking with full name, approximate booking date, and subject or booking number when known.
- Ask for the recorded booking and release date and time, release category or authority if maintained, and any public destination or transfer field.
- List a booking photograph as a separate item. Kansas law does not guarantee that an agency must furnish a copied visual item.
- Request electronic delivery and an itemized fee estimate before work exceeds a stated limit.
- Ask the custodian to cite the legal basis for any withheld or redacted part.

Girard, KS 66743
Sheriff: 620-724-8274
Jail: 620-724-8853
Under K.S.A. 45-218, the custodian must act on the request as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day. That is a response deadline, not a promise of full production within three days. K.S.A. 45-219 allows reasonable actual furnishing costs, staff review, redaction expense, and advance payment. No sheriff-specific production time, jail-record fee, or retention schedule was found.
Crawford County Release Record Law
The Kansas Open Records Act, or KORA, begins at K.S.A. 45-215. K.S.A. 45-216 states the policy that public records are open unless another law provides otherwise. K.S.A. 45-217 excludes jail and correctional rosters, police blotter entries, and court records from the definition of criminal investigation records. That supports access to roster and release data, subject to other limits.
Access is not the same as permanent availability. Juvenile, sealed, redacted, and expunged information can be restricted. K.S.A. 22-2410 addresses eligible arrest-record expungement. K.S.A. 21-6614 governs eligible conviction and diversion expungement. The rules depend on the record, offense, dates, completed terms, and statutory exceptions. A missing result therefore does not prove no booking occurred.
K.S.A. 45-219 contains a special visual-copy limit. An agency generally need not provide copies of pictures or visual items unless the statute's condition applies, even when the sheriff displays an image online. No verified Kansas-specific anti-pay-to-remove statute was found in the official source review. Official county and state records are the sound channels for release verification.
Correct Crawford Release Records
The New World disclaimer directs written accuracy complaints to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office at 225 N. Enterprise Drive. Include the exact booking number, the disputed field, and material that shows the requested correction. A correction request is different from asking for a release record, so label it plainly.
The sheriff also offers a Release of Property form. It concerns property held by the Sheriff's Office. The form does not promise that personal property from a jail booking will be returned at a release desk, nor does it publish release-day pickup rules. Call the jail for the facts tied to a specific booking. This distinction keeps property questions separate from the public release record.
Find Crawford County Released Inmates
Start with the custody system. Most local arrests lead to the Crawford County Jail inquiry. A Kansas prison sentence leads to KASPER. County-jail alerts belong in VINE, while court files explain dismissal, sentence, probation, or another judicial result. Federal imprisonment requires BOP and the federal docket. These channels answer different questions and should be compared only after the same person and case are matched.
- Open New World and search by name, subject number, or booking number. Leave the In Custody box unchecked so historical records can appear.
- Use Booking From and Booking To only to narrow booking dates. Those controls do not filter by release date.
- Open the matching booking history and record its booking number, release date and time, arresting agency, and custody indication.
- Search the court case for the legal result. If state custody followed, match the person, Crawford conviction, case, and movement in KASPER.
- Use BOP, ICE, or another agency only when the case or transfer facts support that route. If the screens remain unclear, submit a focused records request.
For a known name, this is stronger than treating the 24-Hour Release List as a full feed. Crawford County has no verified rolling release list. The search fields use booking dates, so an older booking released today can fall outside a narrow booking window.
Crawford Released Inmate Search Controls
The county inquiry accepts Name, Subject Number, Booking Number, In Custody, Booking From Date, Booking To Date, and Housing Facility. Name searches need careful matching because several people or several booking episodes may appear. A subject or booking number is more precise.
The official Crawford County search controls show the optional custody box and booking-date fields used for historical lookup.
Leaving In Custody clear permits past bookings to appear. The date fields still select booking dates, not everyone released during those dates.
The sheriff states that information changes rapidly and is updated regularly, but it gives no exact cadence. A blank release field may need a later check. The old archived-roster link currently fails, while the main historical inquiry remains functional. Neither fact supports importing a release list from another Crawford County or another state.
KASPER Crawford Release Lookup
KASPER covers people sentenced to the Kansas Secretary of Corrections since 1980 who are incarcerated, under post-incarceration supervision, or discharged. It is not the Crawford County booking archive. A person held only at the county jail may never appear there.
The KASPER disclaimer and search entry help establish which state records are covered before a name is entered.
After accepting the disclaimer, search by exact name or KDOC number. Confirm the photograph, date of birth or physical description, Crawford conviction county, and case number. Then review custody or supervision level, facility movements, parole office, and the exact label “Anticipated release date.” That date is an estimate. Later movement and status are better proof of actual release.
- Parole
- Release from prison under KDOC supervision before the sentence fully ends.
- Postrelease supervision
- A required supervision term after the prison part of a Kansas sentence.
- Discharge
- The recorded end of the KDOC sentence, not deletion of every related public record.
- Transfer
- Movement from one custodian or facility to another, not freedom from custody.
KASPER updates each working day, described by KDOC as daily excluding weekends. It omits Kansas interstate-compact inmates sent into Kansas and warns of incomplete display for certain community-corrections probation events after April 21, 2021. A no-result may also stem from an overturned or expunged conviction or clemency. Questions about an anticipated date go to KDOC Sentence Computation at 785-296-3317; data corrections go to kdoc_pub@ks.gov.
Crawford Release Court Record Routing
The court record often explains why a short jail stay ended. The Kansas District Court Public Access Portal can show public case events and documents, while Crawford County's Judicial Center page explains its two local divisions. Criminal filings from 1991 forward are identified at Girard. The Pittsburg office handles other listed categories. A case number ending in G generally routes to Girard, while P generally routes to Pittsburg.
The two-office source helps avoid taking a booking-based question to the wrong counter. Call with the case number if the proper division remains unclear.
Girard is at 111 E. Forest, third floor, 620-724-6212, open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed through lunch. Pittsburg is at 602 N. Locust, 620-231-0380, open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through lunch. Written searches cost $12 per hour and copies cost $0.25 per page. Municipal ordinance cases may instead belong to Pittsburg or Girard Municipal Court.
Can a bond amount prove release? No. It records bond information tied to the booking. A bond entry, court order, or sheriff record must connect the bond to the release before that reason can be stated.
Crawford Post-Release Supervision Check
KASPER can show parole, conditional release, postrelease supervision, compact supervision, and discharge. When a parole office and active supervision level appear, the record is evidence that the person is outside prison but still under KDOC authority. Record the date checked because revocation, absconding, discharge, or a new custody event can change the result.
Crawford County Community Corrections is a separate court supervision path for eligible adult felony clients in the 11th Judicial District. Ordinary probation is best confirmed through the sentencing order and the responsible office. It should not be relabeled as KDOC parole. More detail appears on the Parole & Probation page.
Crawford Release Health Support
The Crawford County Jail's Inmate Services page describes voluntary, intake-screened medication-assisted treatment, counseling, medical assessment, withdrawal management, and aftercare. It also identifies access to licensed mental-health staff and an on-site Community Health Worker who helps prepare people for post-release life.
These services are not automatic for every Crawford County release. Eligibility, enrollment, and the exact plan depend on the individual and program. Community Corrections has a different role: intensive supervision for eligible adult felony clients. Keeping treatment, navigation, probation, and parole separate prevents the release record from implying services or conditions it does not show.
Crawford Release Alerts Through VINE
Kansas VINE covers adults housed in county jails, including Crawford County Jail. It expressly excludes KDOC state-prison offenders. Search a named person through the Kansas record and register while the person remains in custody. Available channels can include telephone, email, text, or in-app notice. A phone registration uses a four-digit PIN, which must be entered with the pound key to acknowledge an automated call.
An alert may report release, transfer, or escape. These are not interchangeable. Compare the event with the sheriff booking detail, then check a receiving system if it says transfer. Email alerts use no PIN and send one message for a custody change. The VINELink Check page covers the full registration process and preserves the conflict between official state phone listings.
Crawford Federal Release Records
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward. Search by BOP Register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number, or by name with age, race, and sex filters. Results can show name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” means the person is outside BOP custody, not necessarily outside state, ICE, or other custody.
The federal locator is relevant only when the person's case or custody history is federal. The federal docket gives the judgment and supervised-release terms.
ICE's locator covers qualifying adults now in ICE or CBP custody and, under its published attorney guidance, people released from ICE custody in the past 60 days. Search by A-number and country of birth, or exact name and country of birth. A county exit followed by an ICE handoff is not a community release. No official evidence shows a Crawford County ICE contract, so this route applies only when a detainer, immigration matter, or transfer clue supports it.
The ICE scope guidance documents the current and recent window.
Exact spelling, the 60-day limit, age rules, and reporting delays make no-result searches inconclusive. ICE or immigration records are needed to distinguish community release, transfer, or removal.
Getting Home After Crawford Release
No official Crawford County source states release hours, exit door, holiday practice, family waiting area, or a guaranteed ride. Call the jail at 620-724-8853 for instructions tied to the known person and booking. Court paperwork, another hold, and transportation can change timing.
SEK-CAP transportation offers Crawford County demand-response service Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Scheduling is 620-724-6350. A suggested $1 contribution is listed, with no refusal solely because a rider cannot contribute.
Prior-day notice is normally requested and same-day trips depend on availability. Ask whether a trip can be scheduled. PACT's fixed route serves Pittsburg, but no source shows that route stopping at the Girard jail.
Crawford County Discharge Ledger
Pittsburg State University digitized a Crawford County sheriff jail ledger from 1922 through 1935. Its fields include commitment and discharge date and hour, along with the responsible authority. The archive offers local context for the county's long practice of treating discharge as a distinct record.
The ledger is not a current locator. It should not be searched for a modern Crawford County released inmate or used to infer today's procedure. Current verification belongs in New World, court files, KASPER, VINE, and formal agency records.
Crawford Release Search Comparison
A final cross-check should use the system that created the custody event. Live jail status, historical county release, state discharge, and federal release are different record types.
| Question | Correct channel | Do not rely on |
|---|---|---|
| Still in Crawford County Jail? | New World with In Custody selected | KASPER alone |
| Did a county booking end? | New World Release Date and sheriff record | A blank live-roster search |
| Why did it end? | Court disposition and sheriff record | Bond amount alone |
| Left Kansas prison? | KASPER status or movement and KDOC | Kansas VINE |
| Still supervised? | KASPER, parole office, court, or Community Corrections | County release time alone |
| Left federal custody? | BOP locator plus federal docket | County booking record |
Crawford County Release Facility
The verified adult public facility is Crawford County Jail, operated by the Crawford County Sheriff's Office at 225 N. Enterprise Drive in Girard. Its New World booking history is the main local release path. A court record explains disposition, while KASPER, BOP, or ICE may identify a supported custody handoff.
No official source established a separate adult city jail roster, state adult prison, federal prison, or ICE detention center in Crawford County. Pittsburg Police directs people to the county roster. Juvenile intake and supervision are confidential or restricted and remain outside this adult release search.
